As the daughter of a renowned hunter for Clan Centurio, Penelope grew up with a profound interest in the beastkin of Eorzea. With no martial skill herself, however, she chose to study them rather than pursue her father's career. She travels the world keeping a journal of sketches and notes on behaviors, populations, and other interesting bits of information which she sells to hunters, mercenaries and companies. Anyone who meets her might wonder how a girl like her got mixed up in such dangerous work, but Penelope could never picture herself doing something different.

Appearance

Penelope is a petite but otherwise average Hyuran girl. She has lightly tanned skin from spending a good portion of her life outdoors. She keeps her ruddy brown hair short and out of the way and often has some braided. Her eyes are probably her most unique feature. Her right eye is a light brown and her left is a pale blue, making for a striking gaze. Penny often thinks with her face, making expressions that might seem a bit exaggerated and comical. She does not realize she does this.

Personality

Penelope, or Penny as she likes to be called more often than not, can be a bit much for people. She is extremely outgoing, talkative, and overly optimistic. She has a carefree nature that most would equate to youth and naivete. But Penny is actually quite smart, at least when it comes to nature, beastkin, and survival. Her clumsiness just gets the better of her sometimes, as well as a knack for attracting a bit of bad luck.

Penny talks a lot. She talks to herself, talks to her chocobo, talks to the beasts she's studying. Spending most of her time alone and on the road, she does get lonely so is over-eager when it comes to social situations.

Hooks

  • Traveler: Penny practically lives on the road. Her work keeps her on her toes, and she goes where the beasts are. She runs into all sorts on the move and gets into some trouble now and again that she needs rescuing from.

  • Hunters and Monster Slayers: Looking for money or a thrill? Penny works close with several companies as well as Clan Centurio. She has a profound amount of knowledge stored about various beastkin and how to combat them, as well as migratory patterns.

  • Tavern or Inn-Goer: Penny can often be found at various inns and taverns across the world, especially those frequented by hunters and mercenaries. More than likely, she is sampling the menu and trying to satisfy her huge appetite.

  • Gridanian Resident: While she spends a good portion of her time away from home, Penny still does keep a small apartment in the Lavender Beds. She grew up in the city and her family is well-liked and fairly well-known by other long time residents. Her mother especially is an accomplished bower.

Note-worthy NPCs

  • Alden Wright: Penelope's father worked as a well-known hunter and monster slayer for several years. He had, still has, a reputation among those who brush shoulders with similiar folk. While he was somewhat of a legend to others, Penny just knew him as her dad, a good man that raised her to love the land and the beasts in it.

  • Astrid Wright: A talented bower and leatherworker from Gridania, she met Alden while he was working in the area. Her mother is a lot more down-to-earth than her father, but Penny got her hard-working attitude and her love of the woods from her mother. She writes to her often while she travels.

  • Beans: Beans is Penny's not so trusty chocobo companion. He's stubborn, a bit dumb, and certainly does not like to listen to her. But she enjoys his company on the road all the same. He has a pale coloration in comparison to standard chocobos, with a freckling of brown along the ends of his wings and tail.

Player Characters

  • Withdrawn Drifter: A man she met by chance when Beans got away from her. They shared a camp in the Thanalans and he shared a nice meal, which of course, makes him an instant friend in Penny's book. She did not seem to mind that he didn't talk, as she was used to talking over people anyway. He was a nice surprise on an otherwise unlucky night.

Hey, I'm Hithren, and I've been doing this RP thing for about fifteen years, about four of them being in FFXIV. Below is some stuff you might want to know about me before engaging to make it easier on the both of us.

Disclaimer

As a general disclaimer: I suffer from major anxiety. If I do not answer or engage with you right away, please do not be offended. Sometimes I freeze up, or get discouraged.

I do not engage in ERP unless it is with close friends who I have gotten to know OOCly, and my characters have formed bonds with ICly. If you're looking for someone to satisfy such things, I'm likely not the roleplay partner for you. Don't get me wrong, I love ships and romance, but I do prefer organic development above all else.

I am not a multi-verse/AU roleplayer.

I prefer my roleplay to be lore-compliant ( within reason, we all bend a bit here and there), story/plot-driven, and mature-themed.

Accessibility

I am located in the PDT/PST timezone. At the moment I have a fluctuating schedule, so I prefer setting things up in advance rather than walk-ups. My main cast of characters are located on the Balmung server, and I do have some alts on Mateus and Goblin. I am more than happy to accommodate others via the World Visit system, however.

I predominantly roleplay in-game, and prefer this method over all others. I am open to Discord RP if that is the only way we can work something out, but I will warn in advance, I do tend to be slow to reply.
